For me the patterns found on stones from megalithic sites are iconic. I worked with gold-leaf on oak to highlight these evocative abstract patterns that have the ability to transport you to a different realm. These icons are from the great temples of Brú na Boinne, Tara and Lough Crew. I am currently working on a series of icons that are from stones that were concealed from view and only recently revealed during excavation. This work is titled “hidden art”. I am drawn to work with these patterns because of their clarity of intention, vibrating in unseen splendour in the vast domain of the abstract realm.
